The Pocono Equestrian Center "At a Glance"
The Pocono Equestrian Center relies on donations and grants. If you would like to help sponsor a program, please contact us, or make a donation online. Your donations are fully tax deductible.
· The Pocono Equestrian Center was established in February 2003, by Beverly and Frank Peffer, to help children and youth in need by giving them self-esteem, confidence, and the skills to enhance their daily lives by having interaction with horses. We are committed to training horses and riders safely. So the horses are not abused, unwanted or neglected; instead they are cared for and loved by children, which enables them both to emotionally heal.
· As a public non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are committed to accomplishing our mission while maintaining low overhead.
· Our programs are aimed towards the children and youth that are in need or with illness', while providing the family a chance of relief of the daily stresses of life. These children and youth that need an extra boost to get through the difficult times in their lives. The emotional satisfaction that the children and youth get by interacting with the horses has a life long healing effect. This will enhance their daily lives by giving them the opportunity to work with the horses.
· The programs for the horses are as well rewarding. We evaluated each horse to see if they would fit into our programs. Depending on the need of the horse, we will then rehabilitate, and train the horse safely with Natural Horsemanship Techniques. We will match the children's ability and previous experience with horses, so they can get involved with the entire process. If the horse doesn't fit into our programs, we will then put them into our adoption program to find a good home.
